The fourth entry in the series, Dead Space 3 (2012), was the first in the series to be fully developed by another studio, Gas Powered Games. The first entry in the series, Dead Space (2007), was developed as a spiritual successor to the first two entries in the Prototype series. The first title was developed by the studio Visceral Games, which was founded by several key members of the Gears of War team, including Cliff Bleszinski.
